Vifm v0.14.5
------------

Thanks for the bug reports. This is another bugfix release for the v0.14.x
series, done primarily to fix a CVE. The other backported changes since
v0.14.4 make documentation more complete and readable along with fixing various
bugs.

The CVE may allow a local user of a Unix-like system to send commands to a Vifm
instance of another user. Making `$TMPDIR`, `$TEMP`, `$TEMPDIR` or `$TMP`
point at a location that's writable only by the current user is enough to make
it impossible, but it needs to be done outside of Vifm (i.e., don't put
`let $TMPDIR = ...` to `vifmrc`, it won't have the desired effect).

Security:
- Fixed unsafe IPC pipe reuse (CVE-2026-110237). Thanks to Andrew Savchenko
and Salvatore Bonaccorso (a.k.a. carnil).

AppImage:
- Updated AppImage runtime to a recent version. Thanks to Alexander
Gottweis (a.k.a. stablestud).

Documentation:
- Improved wording of documentation sections describing filters and patterns.
- Improved wording of documentation covering `:view`. Thanks to
CaptainFantastic.
- Slightly improve documentation of `columncount:` in `'lsoptions'`.
- Fixed invocation form of `:locate` that passes parameters without escaping
not being documented.

:set command and options:
- Fixed printing the value of `'previewoptions'`: remove trailing comma and fix
`maxtreedepth:` and `graphicsdelay:` being mutually exclusive.

File list:
- Avoid views scrolling unnecessarily in response to file-system changes that
add or remove files before the first visible line. Thanks to
justpretending2.

File preview:
- Fixed external preview of directories being indefinitely refreshed when
`'previewoptions'` lists non-default values for builtin directory preview.
Thanks to Chris at Vifm Q2A site.
- Fixed graphics from miller preview staying visible after switching away from
a file entry.
- Fixed graphics from miller preview staying visible after switching
`'millerview'` off.

Command-line mode:
- Fixed `:highlight Group cterm=combine,none gui=combine,none` resulting in
`cterm=combine` and `gui=combine`.

Menus and dialogs:
- Fixed dialog's title being hidden when it's longer than the dialog's message.

Core:
- Fixed startup commands being executed on loading sessions. Thanks to
maxigaz.
- Fixed cleaning up IPC pipe file on exiting after handling `--remote` or
`--remote-expr`.
- Fixed an unlikely memory leak on discovering `.desktop` files.

TUI (Text User Interface):
- Fixed ruler in view mode not growing in size to accommodate its content.
Thanks to Dennis Preiser (a.k.a. 0xDP).

Integration:
- Fixed FUSE unmounting not working on FreeBSD 15.0 or later, which has added
an implementation of inotify that, unlike on Linux, counts as a directory
use and prevents unmounting. Thanks to abi at Vifm Q2A site.

Only on Windows:
- Fixed miller columns not being filled on Windows for UNC paths.

See the ChangeLog file for the full list of changes and by whom they were
suggested or implemented.
